Eligibility is set by Medicare and depends on your age and circumstances. Ring (03) 8391 7025 and reception will check, including when you were last assessed.

How long does it take?

Usually 45 to 60 minutes. Say it is for a health assessment when you book so the right appointment length is set aside.

Is it really free?

Yes, for patients with a valid Medicare card, along with the blood tests and in-clinic tests done as part of it.

What should I bring?

All your medicines including over-the-counter products and supplements, your glasses and hearing aids, any specialist letters, and a family member or carer if that helps.

How often can I have one?

The over-75 assessment and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health check are annual. The 45–49 preventive check is a one-off within that age band.

Do I have to fast?

Sometimes, if cholesterol or glucose testing is planned. Reception will tell you when you book.

Can my carer or family member come in?

Yes, and it is often helpful — particularly for medication history and memory questions.

What happens afterwards?

You get a written summary and a plan. Where a chronic condition is found, the assessment often leads into a care plan with subsidised allied health.
