Who we are

A bulk billing family practice on Learmonth Road — open seven days, and taking new patients.

—
Open seven days Monday to Friday 8am–8pm, weekends 9am–5pm.

We’re a general practice in the Learmonth Road health precinct at Wendouree, built on one idea: seeing a doctor shouldn’t depend on what’s in your account that week.

What’s on site

Most of it happens in this building

The gap between “your GP has ordered a test” and “the test is done” is where a lot of care quietly falls over. Having pathology, audiology and a treatment room here closes most of that gap.

How we work

What you can expect from us

Six things we would want to know if we were choosing a practice. Tap any of them for the detail.

Consultations are bulk billed for patients with a valid Medicare card, which means no out-of-pocket cost to you. A small number of services sit outside Medicare entirely — pre-employment, insurance and licence medicals are the common ones — and reception will tell you the fee before anything goes ahead.

For anything ongoing, continuity does real clinical work: less re-explaining, and a doctor who knows what is normal for you. Ask for your usual GP when you book. For a one-off problem, being seen promptly by whoever is free is usually the better trade — every doctor here works from the same record.

A standard appointment suits one clear issue. If you have a list, or the reason is complicated or hard to talk about, ask for a long appointment when you book. It costs no more, and it is far better than raising the real reason as the door is closing.

Our doctors speak thirteen languages between them, and a free interpreter can be arranged for any appointment. The clinic is on the ground floor with parking at the door. Tell reception what you need when you book and it will be organised.

Your health information is handled under the Privacy Act and the Australian Privacy Principles. It is not shared with family, employers or insurers without your consent, and you have the right to access your own records. The narrow exceptions concern serious and immediate risk, and your doctor will be upfront with you.

If something has gone wrong, we would rather hear it. Speak to reception, ask for the practice manager, or put it in writing to info@ballaratdoctors.com.au. If you would rather raise it outside the practice, the Health Complaints Commissioner in Victoria takes complaints on 1300 582 113.
