What does testing involve?

Usually a urine sample or a swab you collect yourself, plus a blood test. Throat and anal swabs are offered where relevant. An examination is not always needed.

How soon after sex can I be tested?

Some infections take up to two weeks to show, and HIV testing may need repeating at six weeks and three months. Your GP will tell you when to retest — testing too early can give false reassurance.

Ring the clinic today. Preventive medication after a possible HIV exposure is most effective started as soon as possible and within 72 hours — the Victorian PEP line is 1800 889 887. Emergency contraception is also more effective the sooner it is taken.

Yes. Self-collection is available to anyone eligible for screening and is as accurate for detecting HPV. Ask when you book.
